This event will showcase how Ecuadorian video artists and collectives have responded to critical topics such as migration, climate change, social inequality, gentrification, gender, and human mobility by creating a diverse range of works. It will be introduced by Maria Belén Moncayo, the director of the AANME Archive, an independent video art and experimental film collection based in Quito. As a grantee of the Ecuadorian government’s international human mobility scholarship aimed at disseminating Ecuadorian video art and experimental film in Europe, Maria Belén Moncayo, an art curator, and feminist activist, will personally present these compelling video art works at CLACS, aiming to foster new networks and discussions around video art in Latin America. The programme will feature a rare screening of Ecuadorian video artists’ works. Moncayo will provide insights into the artists’ concerns and the history of video art in Ecuador, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
