Seminar | Eight Years after the Peace Agreement: Navigating Current Complexities of Peacebuilding in Colombia
Nordic Institute for Latin American Studies : 05 February 2025 18.00–19.30.
Open Seminar – November 2024 marked the eight-year anniversary of the Peace Agreement between the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army (FARC-EP), after more than fifty years of war.
While there is much to celebrate, significant challenges remain in fully implementing the agreement and realizing the transformative changes many envisioned for Colombia. During this period, key events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, two presidential elections, a rise in social protests, and parallel negotiations with the National Liberation Army (ELN) have shaped the ongoing debates and practices surrounding peace. In this event, three expert panelists will share their latest perspectives on the current complexities and challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia.
Panelists:
-
Pontus Ohrstedt, Folke Bernadotteakademin.
-
Priscyll Anctil Avoine, Swedish Defense University.
-
Lani Anaya, Church of Sweden.
Chair:
-
Juanita Esguerra Rezk, University of Gothenburg/NILAS.
