Indigenous Peoples under Pressure :
The pressure on indigenous people in Latin America is increasing to the point of becoming a threat to their very existence. The left-wing populist government of Mexico is as uncommitted to the interests of the indigenous as the conservative transitional one in Bolivia is. Brazil’s right-wing extremist president is even openly pursuing an assimilation policy. A new threat has now emerged in the form of the coronavirus, for which these isolated peoples are wholly unprepared in terms of immunology.
