The ongoing debates on the colonial backgrounds of ethnographic and art collections in European museums is gaining momentum in the public arena given the growing demands for the return of objects and the inclusion of indigenous curators in contemporary heritage institutions. Dr Thiago da Costa Olivera will discuss in his conference the specific contribution of Amerindian people for the decolonization of Europen museums and collections. Hereby, he will start from two central topics of the critique: the legal conditions of appropriating and the moral requirements for representing other cultures.
